FSi Awarded Another Design/Build Project

05/03/2007

Construction is expected to start this summer on a $9.2 million border patrol station in Whatcom County for the Department of Homeland Security. The 20,000-square-foot facility will be constructed on 10 acres off Garrison Road (state Route 9) in the southwest area of Sumas.
The building will contain offices, a temporary detention facility with sally port, and support space.
FSi consulting engineers are the mechanical and fire protection engineers for the project. The A/E team is led by Belay Architecture of Tacoma with additional engineering support from KPFF Structural and Civil Engineering, Coffman Electric, Thomas Rengstorf Landscape Architecture and HWA Geotechnical Engineers.
Bristol Design Build Services of Anchorage is leading the design/build effort. Key subcontractors include JM Corp. & Sons and Feller Heating & Air Conditioning. VP Buildings is fabricating the pieces of the pre-engineered steel building. The building will have a CMU base and metal siding.
The project is being developed on a fast-track schedule that allows construction to start while designs are still being worked on. Construction is scheduled to run from summer of 2007 to April of 2008.
