Sitka Community Hospital
FSi provided the mechanical design for the replacement of the hospital’s hot water system, including two hot water boilers, two hot water storage tanks, and a steam generator.
Two new 59 HP steam boilers operating at 85 psig were installed to provide steam to their duct humidifiers and autoclaves as well as to two new instantaneous hot water makers producing 160 degree F domestic water. A mixing valve assembly was used to obtain 116 degree F water. A 250 gallon hot water storage tank was utilized to ensure adequate hot water during peak loads. A construction phasing plan was developed to ensure continuous hot water even during construction.
