King County Transit, Division-Wide Mechanical Systems Assessment
We evaluated each building at each base operated by King County Transit. Our process included interviews with maintenance staff, plant engineers, design engineers, and base millwrights, site visits, evaluating system conditions, and identifying replacement priorities. We created a database for each building documenting all mechanical systems, their age and condition, and expected replacement date. We documented function changes, safety issues, and energy conservation opportunities. We developed estimated costs and projected time frames for implementation.

FSi completed this $1,000,000 Open End contract with King County Transit Division in 2002. Highlights from the 15 work orders:

King County Transit, Renovations of Operation & Maintenance Buildings
FSi was a sub consultant for the renovation of the operations building at the East and South Base sites. The project also included upgrades in the office area of the maintenance buildings at each site. Critical to the design process was the work-around plan to accommodate partial operation of the building during the entire, twelve-month construction period. The HVAC system was modified on an interim basis to serve the temporary dispatch during construction.
